Giving Thanks

It’s been a strange Thanksgiving for me this year. No family, no turkey, no football, no pumpkin pie. Just a relaxing day at home chatting with friends and working on various little projects. Though I did take the traditional nap because hey, I could, and the stormy weather took a walk off the cards.

There are so many things I’m grateful for right now.  The wonderful people in my life who love me and I love in return.  A job that’s given me the opportunity to travel and the flexibility to realize it’s not the career I once thought it was. New hobbies filled with potential and the friends they’ve introduced me to. Health and happiness, peace and prosperity.

So much in my life right now feels like the calm before the storm, that period of rest and anticipation that precedes a gigantic change. After the storms I’ve already weathered, sometimes that feeling is too big to look in the eye because the potential for damage is so great, like the receding ocean before a tsunami.  Other times?  I reach for my surfboard.

Very, very little in life is certain. But as the famous quote says, life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
